If you have received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Westport Police Department stating you have a warrant and/or trying to collect financial information from you, please know THIS IS A SCAM. The scammers are able to conceal their real phone number, by "spoofing" our number on the caller ID. Please know, there is nothing that we can do on our end to stop this. The Westport Police Department will NEVER solicit financial information from anyone over the phone. Warrants for arrest are NOT and CANNOT be handled over the phone or by paying money over the phone. If you have received any of these calls/messages, you may disregard them and hang up.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Westport Police Department is to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of
the community through the delivery of professional police services for the purpose of enhancing
the quality of life within the City of Westport. The department must enforce the law in a fair and
impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the
constitutional rights of all persons. It is not the role of the department to legislate, render legal
judgments, or punish.
The department serves the people of Westport by providing law enforcement service in a
professional and courteous manner and it is to these people this department is ultimately
responsible.

Commitment
The standard of performance, for which the Westport Police Department is striving, is predicated
on the total commitment, not only to the police service, but also to the general well being of the
community. Such a commitment is the hallmark of the police professional who recognizes that it
permeates not only their daily work, but their private and family life as well.
The commitment assures each citizen of Westport that the police will maintain constant vigilance
over their property and personal safety. It Assures them that the necessary police responses will
be swift, unbiased, competent, and scrupulously kept within the bounds established by law and
in the highest ethical tradition.
By adherence to these high standards, we commit ourselves, as a police department, to continue
to earn the respect and confidence of the community.

Department Philosophy
The Westport Police Department prides itself in subscribing to the philosophy of providing a
community-oriented policing service to its City. The ability to do so requires each member to be
constantly aware of, and sensitive to, the needs of those they serve and to be accountable to them.
